Our Volunteers and Visitors are the heart of our organization
Become a Volunteer
At Our Center, people are welcome to attend programs that speak to them. You can get involved through volunteering, participate in existing groups, or create your own group with the support of Our Center to serve our communities. Whether you spend a little time here, or it is your home away from home, our doors are open to all.
About Us
Our Center provides northern Nevada’s LGBTQIA+ community with access to advocacy, support, educational programs, services and resources.
Stop in and say “Hi” to one of our friendly volunteers at the reception desk. Ask for a tour or make time to create in the Art Room, grab a book in the Library, surf the web or play a game in the Great Room. Check out the Social Calendar for the monthly schedule of events for Our Center.
LGBTQ community members, allies and those confronted with sexual orientation and gender identity issues are welcome with open arms and minds.
OUR Center is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit that relies solely on the support of private donations and the generosity of individuals, businesses and foundations.
It started as a dream in 2009, when the need for a safe, empowering and supportive LGBTQIA+-specific community center was identified, and an action plan to create one was formed by a small group of individuals in northern Nevada. Since then, countless volunteer hours and monetary donations have been donated by a multitude of extraordinarily generous individuals and businesses, bringing this dream to fruition in April 2016.
Reserve a Space
Looking for a safe, welcoming space in the community to host an event? Our Center has a variety of rooms that are available to reserve and use! Reservation requests are taken on a first come first served basis, where Our Center events will fill the calendar first, followed by LGBTQIA+ events and events without any LGBTQIA+ components will be scheduled third. Please see the Reservation and Application Agreement for the complete application process and to sign up to use any of our spaces!
